Case Study | Commercial Ecosystem – Lombard Shipping

Lombard Shipping is steering its business toward a cleaner, smarter future and electrifying their HGV fleet is the next big step in that journey. To make it happen, we worked closely to put the right energy system in place: one that’s scalable, cost‑effective, and built to grow with their fleet.

The setup brings together Solar PV, high‑capacity battery storage, and EV charging points, all seamlessly managed through Wevo Energy’s software. By connecting everything into one clever system, they can power their operations more sustainably while keeping full control of their energy use, performance, and return on investment.

We’re proud to play a part in helping them move closer to net zero logistics. For us, this is what practical, future‑ready electrification looks like, smarter, cleaner, and made to last.

To learn more about this project and its impact, watch our detailed case study below.

DMEGC bifacial solar Panels: The installation uses tier 1 DMEGC solar panels, known for their excellent efficiency, sleek aesthetics and full traceability from source. There were 226 x 500W panels being installed in total, which are fully optimised.

SolarEdge Power Optimisers: Each panel is equipped with a SolarEdge power optimiser, which enables individual panel monitoring and performance optimisation. This technology mitigates the effects of partial shading and ensures maximum energy harvest from each panel. In total we used 503 x SolarEdge S1000 optimisers.

SolarEdge Synergy Inverter: The system features SolarEdge inverters, which works with power optimisers to convert DC electricity from the panels into AC power for home use. This inverter is designed for seamless integration with the SolarEdge ecosystem, including the battery storage system. This system included 26 strings feeding into 4 x SE90K inverters.

SolarEdge Commercial Storage Battery System (CSS-OD) (102.4kWh-rated): The CSS-OD is managed by the SolarEdge ONE for C&I energy optimization platform and SolarEdge ONE Controller for C&I onsite gateway, working together to control battery functionality and maximize savings for multiple use cases.

The CSS-OD solution offers structured battery protection across multiple layers – from cell to cabinet – forming a robust barrier against potential safety risks. This includes integrated fire detection and double fire suppression mechanisms, multi-sensor security such as fire, smoke and water sensors, and built-in electrical safeguards designed to detect possible earth and leakage faults, reverse polarity and over-voltage. Additional applications provide real-time operational status and alerts to help ensure safe operation over the CSS-OD lifespan.

Doncaster PV Ultra Cabling: PV-Ultra cables are engineered explicitly for DC installations in photovoltaic systems. Designed with high-quality materials for an anticipated lifespan of about 25 years and can operate at average maximum conductor temperatures of 90°C, with short-term tolerance up to 120°C. This particular project included over 4,000m of DC cabling & 430m of cable tray.

NexBlue EV Dual Pedestals: The site has 6 new NexBlue dual 22kW charging pedestals, that are managed on the WEVO Energy platform.
