Working at height is never something to take lightly.
Skylights may appear harmless, but without proper protection, they can be just as hazardous as an open roof edge.
At Insight Energy, we take that responsibility seriously. On our recent Solar PV project at Thetford Garden Centre (another local B Corp), we installed 106 aluminium mesh panels over 53 skylights, giving our team robust fall protection without the need for harnesses or complex gear. The result? A safer, more efficient install and lasting protection for anyone working on the roof in future.

Working at height is never something to take lightly.
The mesh panels are constructed from 6 mm-thick aluminium, and each panel is securely riveted into place. This provides robust fall protection for our install team without the need for harnesses or additional safety equipment, reducing both complexity and risk during the works.
This kind of protection can be installed as a temporary measure to support safe installation or left in place permanently to protect any future contractors carrying out maintenance on the solar system, roof, or gutters.
The team have completed further hands-on training in working at height and installing fall protection systems, part of our ongoing commitment to safety, professionalism, and doing things properly.
Because for us, it’s never just about ticking boxes. It’s about setting the standard and making sure everyone goes home safe at the end of the day.
